Adams County residents wishing to vote in the upcoming election must register by Oct. 7, said Angie Crouse, deputy of the county’s elections and voter registration office.
The Nov. 5 election is a municipal one with a handful of local races on the docket. Municipal elections typically do not garner as much of a voter turnout as elections featuring state and/or national races.
Crouse said a municipal election’s turnout is typically around 20 percent, while a presidential election usually brings out about 70 percent of registered voters. She said the lowest turnout she has seen was the 16 percent during this year’s May primary.
For those who want to participate in democracy, registration can be done in person at the Adams County Courthouse, 107 Baltimore St., Gettysburg, Room 106.
There are other ways to register to vote, which can be seen here. The county’s website has links to the Pennsylvania voter registration application and an absentee ballot application.
