For the first indoor installment of Mapping Mark, I am a tad concerned that the roofing behind my head is a dead giveaway.
If not, I do not know of many hints that will not give it away.
Inside the 32,000-square-foot structure are many offices for multiple agencies. But they all have a common purpose, which, ironically, is outdoor-related.
Last clue: The one-stop-shop building opened its doors to the community in June 2000.
Update Aug. 20
The Adams County Agriculture and Natural Resources Center was built for $3.6 million at 670 Old Harrisburg Road in Cumberland Township. It was paid for largely by a local funding campaign.
Known colloquially as the ag center, the building offers a plethora of educational resources surrounding agriculture.
While the Adams County commissioners have paid off the building’s mortgage, there is still a question surrounding how the building’s space will be allocated.
The barnlike structure houses the Adams County Conservation District, Penn State Cooperative Extension, Land Conservancy of Adams County and the United States Department of Agriculture’s local offices as well as some county archives.
Soon, however, the building will likely become host to the county’s planning department.
