An Adams County commissioner was recently named the District 3 representative on the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania’s board of directors.
Randy Phiel, Adams County commissioner chair, said he was pleased to represent District 3, which encompasses seven counties, on the association’s board.
“In the position, I can retain knowledge and resources that will benefit our county and our residents,” Phiel said Friday morning.
The commissioners association is a statewide, nonprofit and bipartisan organization representing the state’s 67 counties and their respective staffs and personnel on administrative, political and resource-related matters.
“It gives the 67 counties one voice,” said Al Penksa, county manager. “The association creates collaborative efforts of all the commissioners in Pennsylvania to promote county initiatives.”
District 3 consists of Adams, Franklin, Fulton, Bedford, Somerset, Huntingdon and Juniata counties.
The board of directors consists of seven district representatives and 22 other seats as well as 12 non-voting ex officio members and a staff liaison.
“To be the representative for 21 commissioners among seven counties, I’m honored,” Phiel said. “Hopefully it provides a positive result for the organization and our residents.”
The association was responsible for hosting and helping develop Adams County’s new website.
Adams County Commissioner Jim Martin said that the association recently decided to host its annual meeting in Adams County for 2018.
